Village tax bills are due without penalty by July 1, 2016 for first half payments and January 3, 2017 for second-half payments; penalties apply after that date and are noted on your bill.
Payment can be made in several ways: by escrow account, personal check, bank check, money order, and/or cash. Credit cards (Master Card/VISA/Discover) are also accepted; there is a convenience fee (2.45% of the total for credit cards and $3.95 for VISA debit cards) that will be applied and paid by the homeowner to the credit card company. This fee is not included in the tax dollars paid to the Village. Credit card payments may be made directly from this website or in person at Village Hall. Collection hours are 8:00 am – 4:00 pm at Village Hall (21 Ireland Place, 2nd Floor, Amityville). Please make checks payable to “Village of Amityville”.
You may be eligible for a senior citizen or veteran tax exemption; for information call or write to the tax department of Village Hall, (631) 264-6000.
As a result of recent legislative changes, the School Tax Relief (STAR) program is being restructured. New STAR applicants will receive a credit in the form of a check directly from New York State instead of receiving a school property tax exemption.
